Jemisin’s conclusion to this trilogy brings her complex and interweaving narrative full circle. Humanity’s fate falls in the hands of our characters, and their stories, their relationship to one another, will ultimately decide it all. Jemisin continues to nail her execution in all aspects of the story telling and she goes big to bring it all home. Anyone who has made it this far in the series will no doubt be satisfied with the final chapter.
This has been more or less my first foray into this genre, one that has become immensely popular recently. Jemisin deserves her place with today’s best and brightest and I look forward to exploring more of her work. I also look forward to continuing to explore this genre, which I think is able to tap into something that a lot of more classically styled modern literature does not seem to investigate.
