As ridiculous as this premise sounds, I, too, would fake amnesia to get out of a social situation. While getting fired, Sam is injured because of his boss Jonathan, so to try to save his and his team's jobs, he fakes amnesia.
This is a silly 90s, romcom, that is british af but has a lot of heart. The romance is grumpy/sunshine, and I really like how love doesn't make Jonathan less of an asshole. He's still an asshole in the end, but Sam still falls in love with him. Sam doesn't really try to fix Jonathan. He just tries to show him a different point of view.
My only complaint is that I wish they had not gone together at the very end, and then the book ended. I wanted to see more of them being together. The same thing happened in Boyfriend Material. (We don't talk about Husband Material.) I just felt it was a lot of lead up, and then they got together, and that was it, I wanted more of an ending.
