It has some good information but—what makes no sense to me—Gerber chose a relatively colorblind route, completely ignoring the massive effect race has on both immigration and assimilation. The book is surprisingly pro-am and doesn’t shy away from praising assimilation and putting forth a linear model of moral and material progression in America (which is a false history).
