After the first one, I was really excited to pick this one up. The writing was just as beautiful. The world building was even more expansive. I really loved the character work and their dynamics with each other.

There was so much going on in this book. The plot and world building never stops. You're jumping worlds and times and character POV. It sometimes got a little confusing. There was almost too much going on. The first book introduces you to a whole new power system and history. This one introduces you to a whole new worlds that have their own different power systems and history. There was a lot of info dumping.

I really liked the character work in this one. My biggest problem in the last book was Emory, and she really had some good character growth and a really interesting storyline. I loved her and Virgil's storyline. I didn't really care for Romie in this book. I'm not sure if her POV really added anything. Baz was my favorite in the last book, and I loved getting more of his story. I really loved getting Kai's POV and seeing his and Baz's relationship grow.

I felt like the pacing was a little weird, and the ending was really rushed. This was originally a duology that is now going to be a trilogy, which is probably why the pacing was off.

This is a really, really good fantasy story that is highly underrated.
