Nobody But Us: A Sharp, Dark and Twisty Debut Thriller from an Electrifying New Voice by Laure Van Rensburg

3.0

I picked this thriller up on a whim, as the book description was very intriguing. I didn't realise beforehand but the author, Laure Van Rensburg is French, and I only looked up the author's details after I noticed some of the language used was quite strange.
The characters were well-developed but as it was just the two main characters, Steven and Ellie, and the plot took place over 3/4 days, the book was a touch too long for the content. I did like the suspense built with the 'letter' characters and the diary entries though.
This book was full of tension but unfortunately I don't think that it paid off in the end. I was still waiting for the big finale, as the book description describes as a "jaw-dropping twist", but the ending just let the book down in my opinion. I think it could have gone in a much more interesting direction.
3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
