What got to me about this book were the little details about Inspector Gamache’s internal thoughts, such as when he’s in the deer blind, terrified of heights but particularly terrified that he’ll throw himself over the rail for no reason. Louise Penny makes him a full character, with all the little brain quirks we hide from the world.
