Beautiful, breathtakingly beautiful.
This is my first biblical fiction and I think I couldn’t start with a better book.
God is my father and Jesus my savior, so it’s not like I had to force my mind into understanding or believing what the author created here.

If you’ve read Exodus or if you’ve ever listened the story in passing, you know the bare bones of the greatest rescue mission ever known, but all we know is from the protagonist POV, Moses and Pharaoh.
With this book you get insight on what could’ve been the life of a slave, an Egyptian slave.
Kiya’s wealthy father lost all his money and to pay his debts he sold Kiya as a slave. We experience the life of a well accommodated woman transformed into less than a shadow during the worst time for her people and the land were she belongs.

It is so well thought and so beautifully written that I was able to relate to someone that lived several thousand years ago. You can read it if you believe, but I bet it would be more special for those that don’t believe. At best you can see it as fantasy and no problem.
