I don't feel like I can really rate this book as the things I really disliked about it were the things that made it for the age range it was for, it's not really for me so rating it on these things feels a bit mean.
Overall I really liked the concept and would love someone to write an adult book along the same lines. It just didn't give me enough depth and I think it definitely could've done with it - young people are smarter than we give them credit for. It was definitely aimed at the younger end of young adult and I would even say it veered into junior territory as well with the language, plot and sentence structure.

I would like to read Gabrielle Zevins adult books (I've had tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow on my shelf for forever!!) but I fear this has made me not really want to even though I know the writing style will (should) be completely different.

I found Liz really whiny (but I guess that's what you get when you die at 15 and only get younger) and the romance was really unbelievable, nothing even happened and the characters acted like it was some BIG love story?? I really liked Betty and Thandi, and thought they were the real winners here. They were both fleshed out and believable and I loved hearing their perspectives.

The plot itself was so interesting and there were some moments in there where they were making some real deep points about death and happiness and love but overall I found it quite shallow, but again it wasn't for me, so the age range it is for may find it very meaningful. I found the writing clunky with lots of and then... she said.. he said... and a stupid amount of full stops just read like I was bunny hopping my brakes in my car, but Aas said before, this is not written for me in mind, so I can mostly forgive. I read this for my job at the school library to see if I would recommend for book club and I can;t say I would, I think my bookclubbers are a bit too mature for this, despite being Liz's age or younger.
