Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

5.0

wow…this was simply a very enlightening and emotional read. ive never been able to really picture or imagine things as i read, but while reading this i could picture Michelle’s mother so clearly, i felt like i had known her myself. her descriptions about her mother and what type of person she was were so vivid and they really brought her to life, and i think that is the most beautiful part of this memoir. while i personally have never lost a parent and cannot even come close to understanding the pain that comes with it, i was still able to find a deep connection with this book and struggling to find yourself, especially as a mixed race person. i highly encourage anyone to pick up this book, though be aware of content warnings, as it does not shy away from the ugly sides of battling cancer, and it is a very heavy topic. thank you Michelle for your voice and sharing such personal memories.
