A Girl's Story by Annie Ernaux

Western, particularly french, ennui and that french existentialism always lurking in the background, completely focused on the individual. A pretty straight forward contemplation on the subject as changing and formed by events - the "me" as plastic, as changing through time.

Easy read, not flawed, but not really anything special either.
