Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead

5.0

"Love burned within me and between us, making everything else a fog of indistinct details. There was only Seth and me. Me and Seth."

Succubus Revealed had to be one of the BEST series endings I have ever read.  Mead laid the perfect foundation for what goes down in the conclusion.  Secrets were revealed, the truth came out, and you finally discover who knew what the whole time. I was shocked to find out which of our characters were withholding vital and very valuable information throughout the entire series.  I felt betrayed, just as Georgina did.

Let's start at the very beginning.  A very good place to start.  Georgina has decided to let Seth take hold of his humanity and let him decide his fate.  After two too many books of them separated, I loved seeing them together in a way they weren't before.  Neither of them held anything back.  They were an open book to each other.

With Erik's last breath in Succubus Shadows he tells Georgie to "find the other contract."  With Roman and Hugh's help, Georgie begins to unravel the web of lies that surround her.  I was shocked when the big reveal came around the 50% mark.  Part of the reveal, I saw coming, but the rest of was a huge shocker.  And what followed ripped me and Georgie's heart out.  I thought we were going to go back to the Succubus Dreams days.

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Seth's brother, Ian.  He was the ultimate hipster, opposed to all things mainstream.  He knew about everything before it was cool.
He likes to go to coffee shops—obscure ones that you've never been to, naturally— and pretend to read counterculture literature.

After finishing this book, I have to say that I still love Jerome. His unique relatinship with Carter and his strange attachment to Georgie is somewhat of a mysterious, even now.
Jerome's lips twitched. "Exactly, Georgie. Besides, I also wanted to hear—"
Jerome fell silent as his case rested on Seth's T-shirt, depicting John Cusack's iconic stance with the boom box over his head.
"Nice shirt," said Jerome at last.
"Um, thanks," said Seth.

At the beginning of this series, everyone was telling me how much they loved Carter.  I didn't get it (at least not after a book or two).  But after finishing this book

What kept me moving through this series were the morsels of hope that Richelle Mead injected into this story—hope that Georgina and Seth would get to be together in the end, hope that Georgina would finally be truly happy after a millenia of despair, and hope that her friends would be there in the end supporting her.  I am not giving anything away. But I will tell you that this series was flawlessly executed from beginning to end.  The fun is truly in the journey, not where it ends up.  In many ways the ending was bittersweet; it wasn't all rainbows and butterflies.  There was pain and it was sad, but I was happy with where all of our beloved characters ended up.¯
