The One by Kiera Cass

5.0

Well, that was quick! I finished this book within 24 hours and absolutely adored it! "The One" was easily the best book of the entire series, it was that good! After the not-so-good second book I didn't expect anything better but damnit! I loved it!

I was surpried at how different America was again, she seemed a bit more like in the first book and not so much like in the second. I was actually really happy about that because she annoyed me in "The Elite". She was generous and finally got her spirit back and fought for the things she wanted and thought were right. She's impulsive and acts out of her anger a lot but in the end she did a lot of things right. You could clearly see that she has it in her to be a princess and I'm glad she got the opportunity to finally show that!

Maxon, oh dear Maxon. I knew why I was on his team right from the beginning and in this book he proved it once again. The letters, the gifts and the sweet words he said to America were all it took to make me fall in love with him all over again. I was a bit disappointed with him in book 2 but he showed me that there's so much more about him. I'm also glad that the whole Aspen thing didn't annoy me as much as I thought it would. He was actually quite okay and I even enjoyed his little scenes towards the end. Good thing America made a decision so I didn't have to dislike him anymore!

Another reason why I liked this book so much was because of the story! It finally picked up on pace and got a little bit more interesting because we got some answers and information about the rebels and all that - I highly enjoyed reading about all of it although I have still lots of questions! I liked the relationship between the girls and was so happy that they finally started becoming friends. Those scenes where they just sat together and talked or were having fun taking pictures were so important to me and I loved them. But there were some deaths that, in my opinion, weren't necessary and just freaked me out. Why do you make me like someone so much and then kill that person? Why, Kiera, tell me!

Overall I think it was an amazing book but if I didn't know there'd be at least one more book I think I wouldn't be as satisfied as I'm right now. Like I said there were still some things that need to be answered and I hope that by the end of the series Kiera Cass will clarify EVERYTHING and not leave us with some more questions!
