There's Something About Merry by Codi Hall
2.0
Book 2 in the Mistletoe Romance series, and I'm left feeling underwhelmed. Like book one, i don't feel like this book should be classified as a Christmas romance as, although yes, there are elements of the festive season in it. It is not a Christmas story. I can't explain the difference. I just know there is one and that the vibes I usually get from a Christmas romance were missing from this.
I liked the found family aspect with the Winters clan welcoming Clark & his son Jace into the fold, Clark & Merry were decent MCs overall, but the book felt like it dragged. I found the storyline surrounding Jace's biological mum towards the end of the book unnecessary and ridiculous in all honesty, it just didn't fit the story and felt shoehorned in to add some tension in some way. This just didn't give me the warm, fuzzy christmas vibes I was wanting or expecting from it, i don't really have much more to say about it tbh. CJ Bloom & Lee Samuels' performances on the audiobook were good, and I'm glad this was part of the Audible Plus catalogue as had I used a credit for it. I would have been miffed. 🌶
