Tell the Machine Goodnight by Katie Williams

4.0

Set in the near future, this inventive and moving story profiles people trying to find happiness with the help of a machine. What if the secret of happiness could be found in a simple DNA swab?

This clever tale reveals that when it comes to happiness, there are no easy answers. As the machine offers straightforward solutions for happiness such as "take a trip alone" or "find a new job," it is clear that there are many layers to unhappiness. Characters struggle with issues of self-image, broken marriages, deep secrets, and more. The suggestion that technology holds the answers is suggested and then challenged in this futuristic scenario.

This is a good novel for young/new adults.
