Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

This is… not a good book. It starts out strong and pulled me into the story of young women living in a home for girls with unplanned pregnancies and then it got weird. A bookmobile which leads girls into creating a coven to right some wrongs and then it goes downhill FAST. Let me say, this is NOT a horror book, as Hendrix is often known for. This is a wandering exploration without a real grasp on what it wants to accomplish. A unsatisfied ending, an unclear villain, and scenes that blow about like rogue kites in a storm. Also, trigger warnings for anyone who doesn’t want to read about an unnecessary description of labor & delivery. The things Grady chooses to write about in detail are peculiar, and he once again focuses on a woman’s situation as if he knows anything about it. Very strange.
