If for Any Reason by Courtney Walsh

WARNING: (despite there being none anywhere that I could see on the book itself) This is a Christian Fiction Romance. And a boring one. It was written like a journal more than a novel. I was well on my way to the 300th page before I realized NOTHING HAD HAPPENED YET. It was just switching between a few people in present and past talking about to their lives. It was horribly predictable. And the proposal at the end was the epitome of cringe.

The God-Talk was unintentionally placed and incredibly sermon-like. Thrown in whenever it fit the author’s fancy. And forcibly. It started slow with mere mention of God like okay perhaps the writer is just a believer and tossed that in there - then grew into something that was trying really hard but failing to be a conclusion of relying on God and turning to him for everything, giving everything to him. I was honestly skimming AT BEST the last 100 pages waiting for the points I’d already figured out to be made.

In the author’s defense (kind of Bc they should have put somewhere that it’s faith based) I am a dark romance/erotica girlie and this was a thrift store check out line find. Serves me right - this book was PAINFUL to read. But I am open to admitting it just wasn’t my cup of tea and I didn’t know it because there was nothing to point me in another direction. I’m down for a vanilla, feel good romance but this was scarcely a long winded thought of a novel.
