I had better expectations for the light novel, after having read many expressing that it was far better than the manga. While I agree to the most part, there were still areas where I heavily desired more. I found the light novel did a far better job at expressing the MC's dreaded past, and the poor treatment she faced from her first crush. However, I felt the manga better expressed the fall of her past life.
