It's no secret that I am absolutely in love with Greenβs storytellingβ she never fails to tackle the most difficult subject matter in ways that feel real and believable and this allows us, as readers, to connect on an even greater emotional level to these characters whether we can truly relate to their circumstance or not. This series has a way of flaying your heart open only to soothe away the pain and heal the wounds within those same pages. This latest installment does not disappoint in this.
Our story here finds Susu, Susanna, in a new town with a new job, new opportunities, and new threats. The beauty of this new life she's found could not be more at risk and the journey we are taken on because of it is nothing short of a mastepiece painted with beautiful, flawed characters that truly feel grounded in reality. Each of the male characters feels like someone I would meet, myself, which I find is lacking a lot in romance. It's the believability factor, once again, and still Green doesn't disappoint.
While this is a slow to medium burn, when the spice hits it really does burn. I highly suggest taking precautions. Symptoms of reading these scenes may include but are not limited to: one handed reading, flushing, fevers, quivers, daydreaming, and irrationally believing you can find a harem of your own.
