Alternate title: Climate Change, Reviewed. Yeah, I found it impressive how John Green manages to find a relation between climate change and literally anything else. Especially in the first half. It was also written during 2020 times, and the guy is pretty woke. But other than that, the doom and gloom and the idea that the world would be better off without humans, this is a really fun and profoundly thoughtful collection of essays. Each essay/chapter is about one mundane thing or place or event in Green’s life, and his reflections on it as it relates to humanity. I can definitely see how he has become such a successful author—he’s really good at drawing meaning out of things we take for granted, and then writing it out in such an exquisite way. However, his values are extremely different from my own—his outlook on the world is so hopeless—so I can also assume I wouldn’t enjoy reading one of his actual novels.
I think he should write a sequel collection of essays… I’d absolutely read it. Otherwise I’ll probably end my reading of John Green here.
