I love the fact that Tolkien can make detailed writing feel whimsical to the reader. Yes, the subject matter can go on longer than is popular in books written today, but I think that it gives the reader an invitation to truly get to know the person, place, or thing that is being discussed. Delve deep with Tolkien and become the expert. Get to know the world he loved just as he did. Maybe even try and see it all through his eyes.

Without fail, every time I read his work I find myself think-speaking as if I've just been transported from Middle Earth. It's a lot of fun and feels like I'm keeping some hilarious secret from everyone around me.

This is a story that I will revisit over and over until the end of my time. I learn something new each time I visit Middle Earth, whether in book form or film. I anticipate diving into all of Tolkien's published works in the future and falling in love with more of the great imaginings he created while smoking his pipe.
