I never got into Divergent series and I assumed it was because of the characters and plot. This book makes me think it might be because of Veronica Roth's writing. Her language is a rollercoaster but most of the time it feels empty and superficial. I didn't care for the protagonist or even what was happening around. It was mundane at the best.
Although, I appreciate the botanical research that was done for the book.
