"[...] And it's more than just the curse. It's me and Tam. It's finding someone who makes you laugh, who makes you moan, who makes you smile, who gives you a handkerchief when you cry, who believes you when the rest of the world is against you."
wow. this is an insanely long book. over 900 pages, and approximately over 1600 pages, if my kobo reader was to be believed. granted, i cheated a little since i mostly skipped joules and kaycee's chapters—only reading some chapters when i really wanted to know what was going on with them, but, still. that was a wild ride. i thought i would grow bored eventually.
you would have thought that with the premise of the main characters' love hinging on a curse that it would be incredibly corny, but it wasn't. this book was deeper and more heartfelt than i thought. i went from "what the fuck, why do we even care about this curse?" to being on the edge of my seat and wanting both tam and lake to survive. i loved how organic their relationship progression was. i also thought the author would use a cheat code and use insta-lust as a device, but she didn't. you get to see how these two fell in love bit by bit, and i found that beautiful.
overall, i really enjoyed this book! i would recommend it to any mariana zapata readers because only mz readers would be able to stomach how long this book is. trust me, it's worth it.
