Ziggy, Stardust and Me by James Brandon
5.0
6/5 Stars!
I think this is the book of the year, and a new member of the “absolute favorite” shelf. Holy cow.
It’s like “Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe” meets “Across The Universe” and, of course, David Bowie. I have 73 highlighted quotes, and I sobbed since page one.
This is a ready-made movie. This is a rock ballad to the lonely and crushed, to the American Indian Movement, to those that remember about electroshock therapy and when gay was a “disease”… and when Ziggy Stardust said you’re not alone.
The included playlist is phenomenal, the 1973 references are solid, and the characters are everything. Even as a YA novel, this book is for every age. Please read it.
