A Warm Heart in Winter: A Caldwell Christmas by J.R. Ward
5.0
I don't remember the last time when I've binge read a book and finished it in two days. 300 pages in one day, 179 the other. I couldn't put this down. I---
I LOVE THIS BOOK SO FUCKING MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA! This was one emotional rollercoaster, and I was not ready. And, of course, I cried.
I lowkey hated Qhuinn after the Chosen, but in this book, my love was back. I couldn't stop laughing at him and Blay. And those little scenes with them and Rhamp and Lyric were so precious!
I loved every single page, and like I literally wanna pick it up right fucking now and read it all over again.
But here are some of my rational thoughts; we'll keep the fangirl at bay for a lil while now. Some spoilers below, so read at your own risk.
First of, where the fuck was John? Isn't he like Blay's and Qhuinn's best buddy? Where the fuck was he while Qhuinn was going through all that crap? Not even a scene with hi, man, how you holding up? Nothing. I'm very disappointed.
Second, Saxton, bro, where are you? Lhucas was his cousin, too. Where were you bitch? Not even a scene of two cousins mourning a family relative. I'm pretty sure Sax was just as devastated and heartbroken to hear the news as Qhuinn was... Just sayin'.
Third, Zsadist? Fucking Zsadist? What the fuck? Out of all the people, Warden pulled Zsadist out of her ass to be Qhuinn's emotional coach and guide? Zsadist who knows nothing about personal loss and death of a loved one, while TOHRMENT IS LITERALLY THERE. Tohrment who's shellan and son were literally killed. Trez who also lost a shellan. Butch and Jane who both lost their fucking sisters! John, who had to lose Wellsie, along with Tohr. I'm pretty sure either of those five would be more fittable than... Zsadist. "I've been through shit." Oh, so what? So was Vishous. So was John. Bitty was through some shit too — lost her fucking mahmen because her dad was a piece of shit. But no, we got Zsadist. For someone who doesn't like people in his business, he spends a lot of fucking time in other's.
All in all, I loved every single page. I even loved Z in this book even though I think someone else would be a better choice to play Qhuinn's therapist. I'm so happy I've read this book this December. I enjoyed it a lot. As I've said, I couldn't put it down, and it's such an adorable addition to the BDB series — I highly recommend it.
