Well, this one had a way bigger emotional walloping than I was expecting! It's been a minute since E.M. Lindsey made me cry, but they got me in this one! This book was so incredibly emotionally charged, and the ups and downs were plentiful for both Frey and for Renato. Watching Renato struggle with his loneliness and his realization that he didn't like who he'd become was heart breaking, and his moments with Grady's voice at the theater just...gah! It didn't matter to me how much of an asshole he was when we got to see what a softie he was, too. Especially with Rex. I already loved Frey from the first book, so it was no surprise at all that I just grew to love him more while reading this one. Watching him struggle with his sadness, seeing what a great dad he was to his son, and learning about all of the shit he'd been through with his ex that fucked him up, I was dying inside when Renato found his burn book. All the progress he'd made in accepting that he wanted something with Renato just went up in flames. I loved his apology, though, and the florets he got for Grady were what finally dragged the tears out of my eyes! Everything about this book was just perfect, including the EXTREMELY spicy chemistry between Renato and Frey, such I would be remiss not to mention because hot damn! I definitely recommend reading this series and I eagerly await the next book!
