The Warning by A.J. Wills
3.0
I enjoyed the audiobook with the narrator's English accent, especially because it's set in England/UK, but she drags out her "S"'s at the end of sentences which was annoying.
As far as the story, I think it was a missed opportunity. Meghan was self-deprecating (was she supposed to be?), and the connection between Justin's past and the lodge could have been tighter. I kept waiting for the big moment where it all comes together between Bella, Finn, and Justin but it was a bummer. Justin may have been a bit arrogant and an asshole but Bella and Finn were almost as savage in Dare.
When Harriet picked up Meghan from the manor and made her ride in the "boot," to which she agreed to do easily, I was like COME ON! Ridiculous. Predictable. "Oh, I'm sorry that window is all boarded up!" Predictable. "Oh, Harriet tricked me. I miss Justin. Shall I call Justin or the police? Should I go find Harriet and have her unlock her phone?" Pathetic.
It had so much potential as a psychological thriller. Bummer.
