A different take on the classic Cinderella with demons and gore added to it. Instead of spending three nights at the ball, Maia meets the Duke's heir beforehand under the guise of a servant who is passing on letters from her mistress. And her mother? Who the hell goes around making bargains with the Prince of Demons to protect her daughter? (Plus, she's dead, so that's creepier). I didn't find any of the characters memorable or likeable. They all seemed quite plain, to be honest. Nonetheless, it was a relaxing novella to read and get out of my reading slump.
