What a weird book, but a weird book I really enjoyed reading. The family members living in High Place are the literal worse, there were so many times I couldn't understand how the main character managed to keep calm but Noemí was such a dynamic, entertaining, likable character. And the complexity of Francis and his character and choices and overall history, I loved it and I loved him despite his mistakes.

The storyline itself was a little slow at the beginning, for a lot of the book you know next to nothing about anything. But once you do, all the small foreshadowing becomes obvious and once the storyline picks up, oh it really picks up. I will admit there were some points were the "science" of the book became a little convoluted and hard to follow, but it didn't really take away from the storyline in my opinion.

If you're a fan of gothic horror, and don't dislike books that get a little strange, this is definitely worth the read.
