Pitiful Lies by C.D. Gorri
5.0
PITIFUL LIES, the final book from the Jersey Bad Boys series from C.D. Gorri was amazing!
This time, its Angel Fury's turn for a shot at an HEA with Giselle Vega, the best friend of Anna Fury, Nico's wife from Book One, MERCIFUL LIES. If you have kept up with the series, Giselle and Angel met in book one when she threw a drink in his face after mistaking him for Nico. Well, throughout books one and two, Angel and Giselle were fooling around behind the scenes until they weren't. In this book, we get to find out why the heat fizzled between them, at least on Giselle's end.
Angel tries to woo Giselle back. However, Giselle believes that she cannot have anything solid with Angel because he will never give up his player lifestyle to become serious about her. No matter how much Angel feels for Giselle, he just cannot bring himself to admit that he has strong feelings for her. But, will his delay in telling her how he feels cost him Giselle forever?
As with the last two books in this series, the scenes were very spicy! Angel and Giselle were so nasty in this one, I can see how they burned the covers up behind the scenes while we were preoccupied with Nico and Luc's stories. There was also the epic mash-up that I have been hoping for in this book! *squeal* Not going to spoil it but it was well worth the wait!
My only critique is that I would have liked to see more of the brutal side of Angel. He was the Enforcer of the group so, I guess I expected him to be the most brutal. Especially having witnessed the brutality of Nico and the savagery of Luc (still trying to unpack his show of violence). Nevertheless, the book was excellent, and I loved the ending and coming full circle.
This was an amazing series, and I hope C.D. Gorri chooses to write more dark romance books. She definitely has a knack for it and I'd love to see what else she can do in this criminal world she's created. Hats off to you, C.D. Gorri! This entire series is well done!
Happy Reading!
