The Blue Cotton Gown: A Midwife's Memoir by Patricia Harman

5.0

This book is about Patricia {Patsy} Harmon's life as a midwife, from the time before becoming a nurse midwife, meeting and falling in love with her husband who becomes an OB-GYN as well as her business partner, through their careers. You hear about her stories as a midwife but also the struggles that come with being private practice with your husband and what the entails.
The patient's stories can be heartbreaking at times but heartwarming and loving all wrapped into one. The challenges that they ALL face in a small town in West Virginia sadly to some degree are still the same challenges they face today.
I would recommend this of course to any CNM to read, any nurse of course, we ALL at one time or another have said "I could write a book" well Patsy did...lol but I would also recommend this to anyone looking for a heartwarming TRUE story to read. I feel that people sometimes don't realize what Nurses and Docs go through to provide they care that we do and this sheds some much needed light on the struggles. Great Job @PatriciaHarmon beautifully written!
