Mazey Eddings is a must-read author for me. She does such a good job with mental illness/neurodiversity representation in romance, and The Plus One might be my favorite so far (I can’t choose!). After a sudden and (literally) messy breakup, Indira crashes at her brother’s place, where—unbeknownst to her—her childhood nemesis, Jude, happens to be staying while home from an overseas medical assignment. Amid her brother’s over-the-top wedding planning shenanigans, Indira sees a different Jude, a broken person—much like herself—who inspires tenderness alongside their usual teasing. There’s lots of tears and therapy, feelings of abandonment and entrapment, PTSD and peanut butter, and one spicy old lady cat. I loved every minute!
