Men, Women, and Chain Saws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film by Carol J. Clover

I’m sad. I really wanted to like this. It started off strong for me but after chapter 2 it felt like a slog to get through. My main two issues are:
- It felt like it ended up repeating its points in slightly different ways the longer it went on.
- It felt more like a thesis than a book.
Some of the work is dated, that’s to be expected for a 30 year old book. I would still be curious to see an actual updated version. So much has changed in the world and horror landscape since then.
