Skinfolk: A Memoir by Matthew Pratt Guterl

4.0

I always find memoirs interesting. Family memoirs can be tricky because it is one person’s perception/truth and within the same family experiences and memories can vary greatly. Overall I enjoyed the book but had a hard time with how the author referred to his blended family of biological and adopted children from different races as a “failed experiment”. I found the writing style to be uneven. Many of the things I didn’t like about the book other reviewers touched on already. About 25 pages into the book, I realized I worked with Sheryl years ago for a brief period of time. The special license plate was how I figured it out.
