Review:
I loved the characters. The novel follows a few people and I enjoyed seeing different POV's. I liked the mythology and stories from Indian origins. It played a large part in the novel to explain the loss of their shadows. So the premise and characters were 5 stars. The plot and execution was such a letdown. At 480 it could have been 300 pages easy. It was so slow. It dragged. Then magical realism was introduced and I had no idea what was happening in some parts. I did not like the direction this book took at all. The magic wasn't really explained and I felt cheated when the story progressed solely because they used magic to get out of the tricky situation they were in.
