Gio's Possession by Indi Marie

5.0

Gio & Everly: Sweet, Sweet Obsession 5 Stars!

I saw this book posted on Instagram by the author and the trope-mobile checked all of my boxes! So, I couldn’t wait to dive right in. I honestly thought this book was going to be more of the same that I have come to love about mafia romance; a jealous OTT possessive MMC and unsuspecting FMC that he obsesses over. I was here for and ready for it all!

Except for Gio. I was not ready for Gio!

Giovanni Martinelli, the son of a Mafia Don has a responsibility as his father’s successor. As per Family rules, Gio is expected to marry and produce heirs. However, his chosen bride from another Family is not to his liking. Given a short deadline by his father, Gio has little time in which to find a wife he can live with.

Enter: Everly.

Sweet Everly is a young woman caught in a very abusive situation living at home with her alcoholic father. No longer feeling safe, Everly takes to living on the streets where she is discovered by Gio. He is instantly smitten and intrigued by her to the point of obsession. Deciding that Everly is “it for him, Gio begins to put plans in place to make Everly his forever. However, he doesn’t go about it the conventional way at all! Gio is determined to have Everly as his wife. Whether she wants to or not.

Gio and Everly have this instant chemistry the minute they interact on page. Gio takes obsession to a new level in this book as he is OVER-over-the-top possessive of Everly. It was as if Everly is the air he breathes. You will believe him when he vows that nothing and no one will ever lay a finger on ‘his Everly’. Gio’s ‘crazy’ kicks in pretty early in the book and you won’t have to wait long to witness that the man definitely means what he says!

Be sure to check the triggers before reading. There are many graphic sexual and violent occurrences in this book with zero ‘fade to black’ scenes. This book is about as gritty as they come and you will be front and center for all of it. In spite of Gio’s possessiveness, you cannot help but to root for this couple in all of their dysfunction.

Indi Marie does an excellent job giving us not only wonderful main characters with chemistry but a family of secondary characters that make the story richer in content. The scene stealer of the book was Marcello! I won’t spoil it for you but, this man needs his own book!

This was a wonderful read, and I cannot wait to read more from this author. Every star was well earned for this story. Excellent book, Indi Marie!

Happy Reading!
