DNF'd @ 20%. I wanted so badly to love this; I really tried. Unfortunately I felt like the prose was meant to cover a multitude of sins here, keeping me at arm's length so I didn't notice that character motivation is insubstantial to nonexistent. I never knew what anyone was going to do next, and not in an exciting, plot-driven way (it's a very cerebral, theoretically character-driven novel), but in a way where the groundwork was never set for me to ever really know what they wanted. I think 124 dense pages is more than enough chance to establish that.
