ADHD for Smart Ass Women: How to Fall in Love with Your Neurodivergent Brain by Tracy Otsuka
5.0
As far as self-help books go, this is one of the best ones I’ve read on the topic. The main premise is to actually help, motivate, and inspire. There is no shame, no urgency in following each strategy to the letter. It’s a book that collects all one might have read about ADHD already and just gives ideas on how to tackle it if necessary. The author understands the variety and spectrum of ADHD. She emphasizes the individual approach to finding solutions, yet at the same time, she makes you feel like ADHD is your superpower because some symptoms can be used as positive traits when directed correctly. I loved this welcoming, community-driven approach. Women are often misdiagnosed and misunderstood; now they can become creative with their solutions, and there is no shame in it, as long as it works. There is no weird, just pure understanding in this short book, where each paragraph has meaning and shares far from redundant information.
