This book is like cotton candy: light and wispy and very quickly melts on your tongue. A super fast burn with adventure, spice, drama and a HEA. The writing reminds me very much of watching an anime. Very over the top emotions, very blunt dialogue, very quick, fast-paced scenes. The villain does that thing where he’s like, “Did you really think I’d leave you without restraints?” when he captures the female lead. Everything is told to us. Also, magic conveniently fixes most things. This is really just a fun, quick read that is all fantasy. Nothing wrong with that.
However, there were several grammatical errors in my copy, and some phrases did get a bit repetitive. I also didn’t like that the fae spoke like humans (from Scotland with random lass/lad thrown in there by literally just the MMC), but they have never interacted with humans?? But just suspend your belief, sit back and enjoy the chaotic fantasy ride.
Some tropes I noticed:
- Fated mates
- Fae x human pairing
- Virgin FMC
- Possessive MMC
- Touch-her/him-and-die
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Cursing
Minor: Violence and Death of parent
