The Mussel Feast by Birgit Vanderbeke

5.0

The mussel feast is nearly ready for the table, and father is about to return. Any minute now.

Kind of funny, but really scary and tragic if you know what this life is like. I found something in this depiction of the mother and teenage children that felt different.

It's a unique style and the story is very compact but says a lot. Would definitely recommend as a quick 100-page read that has more thrill than most thrillers.
