for such a short book, it could have been tighter. in my completely biased Ukrainian opinion, it was also an interesting decision to set this book in Russia as we know it, since the author clearly made an effort to make the characters as non-Russian as possible. i understand that the setting needed to be Taiga, but here was a chance to further push anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism..
