"Be unrelenting and unmerciful in the face of the wicked dead,” Fisher said. Ren laid a steadying hand on my shoulder. “And if you should find soul sundered from flesh, order a drink for us at the first tavern you come across in the afterlife. We’ll settle the tab when we get there."

I finished this book as an audiobook, and for those that react shocked right now, I know right?! Me, reading an audiobook?! Well, I really wanted to read it and had no funds to buy the physical copy, and had 5 credits on Audible, sooo, the decision was made and I can't say it disappointed!
Do you know that feeling, when you read a review of a book, or you read the blurb of the book and you are almost certain it will be a 5 star read, and I was spot on with this one! This story has everything I really like in a Fantasy story! A great plot and great storytelling, amazing world building, well thought out characters and amazing, AMAZING banter between the main character and other characters! And of course, some spice sprinkled here and there for seasoning 🥵
I really loved both Saeris and Fisher as the main character and love interest in this book. Both were very complex characters with their baggage and life experiences. Both have had an awful start or part of their life and both adapted a way of living to survive further along in life, which made them prone to hating each other in the beginning. There was manipulation, betrayal and so much venom spitting at each other in the beginning, but after a while, they start to understand that they have to get along together to achieve their common goal, save Fisher's realm and send Saeris back to her realm.
But what do you know, stuff never goes as planned in these kind of situations, right 😏
Anyway, I loved every second of it, so many emotions, and so much pain Saeris and Fisher are in, it was heartbreaking. And I can't WAIT until the next book comes out!
