The final book in the Copper Lake series gives us Conrad & Whits story. We have seen glimpses of them and tidbits surrounding their relationship sprinkled throughout the series, so I was eager to get to their story. Overall, I enjoyed the final instalment of this series. It had great spice and small town feel that the other books had. I did however find the found family vibes of this one lacking in comparison to the others as we only had VERY brief cameos from previous characters and with this being the final book i expected more involvement from them than we got. Another aspect of this story i was highly anticipating was the ASD rep in Whits character, unfortunately other than Whits autism being mentioned once there was no representation, it's like Ashley forgot she chose to write a neurodivergent character. I expected that to be woven into the story as how someone who is neurodivergent processes situations like a marriage breakdown, etc, would factor into his overall character, and it just wasn't there. Overall, this was a good read it just didn't live up to my expectations for it, i think. It's definitely worth a read/listen if you have been following the series, though. 🌶🌶
