I wanted to fist pump the air through my tears. A love story of two women in the eighties in a field that already struggled to champion women meant one more obstacle for Joan and Vanessa. I loved their story and it gave me hope for romance stories if one can be done so beautifully without all the trope traps and formulaic plot lines. This was a win.
