this was a short passage to give some context before the events of legends and lattes. i thought this was a bit slow to start for me, but picked up a lot at the end. 

i was mainly hoping for some more of the same comfy cozy feels that i got from legends and lattes, but it had more of who viv was as a warrior/mercenary. this was still interesting but not quite what i was looking for with this character. 

the end of this short passage pivoted more towards that person viv wants to be and who she actually grows to identify as in legends and lattes, which i really liked. it shows that she had the foundations there but was disrupted by stereotypes, which is a theme of her struggles in legends and lattes as well. it was great getting some more insight to viv as a character as well as gallina.
