I've read all of Emily Henry's books now, haven't I?
Beach Read might be my favorite one, though Book Lovers was certainly happier. Also, I think Henry's deal is that the male lead needs to always be more whipped, a concept I'm not opposed to.)
Her books are really about relationships, and the romance hardly takes centerstage. I imagine romance readers to be a bit let down by this, actually? It seemed like January and Augustus' story was more of an afterthought, like it was the subplot to more compelling individual stories. (Gus's dad did WHAT and Janie's mom said WHAT!)
Beach Read also has a lot father-daughter drama wrapped into it, so I naturally gravitated to this story more.
