You know, this is a cunning yarn, some delightful conceits tucked away within the twisty tale.
There are traces of ‘first novel’ that grate as much of the characters and behaviours are completely absorbing. But I like to read Bob’s sideways look at things and they are scattered throughout to bring a grin.
