A Reaper's Heart: The Forbidden Attraction by Kendra Necole, Kendra Necole

4.0

Good Story With Questionable Character Choices

I really liked the premise of this book. The captive turned lover trope is a classic and this rendition of it was well-done. Reaper was good and crazy and so was Lotus, because she was seriously attracted to him, despite her and her daughter being held captive by this crazy, emotionally unstable man.

I would rate this book higher at a 4.5, but some of the decisions by the characters left me scratching my head, the most glaring being: Reaper had clear confirmation that Chop was working with Sergey, but he belabored killing him, and it nearly cost him and Lotus their life. He was reminiscing about friendship and going out with him, but his bosses told him to make the move and he refused, which is insane. They should have killed him for that. Also, Lotus overheard Chop talking about betraying them on the phone, so why didn’t she tell Reaper? That would have given him the motivation to go after this man. Why would she keep that to herself?

Speaking of not making sense, how did Lotus and Reaper both get shot and were out of the hospital like a week later? Not only were they out of the hospital a week later, but Reaper was back on missions.

The sex scenes though were a 10/10. Even Reaper had dom energy seeping out of his pores, I didn’t see that epilogue coming. Overall, I enjoyed the story. A solid 4 stars from me.
