We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
3.0
One issue I have with a lot of contemporary popular feminist literature is that I have heard a lot of the theses before. It's a luxurious problem to have: to not learn anything new, because you have already educated yourself a fair bit beforehand. Thus, it's a bit unfair to cast judgement on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's speech, which is arguably one of the most famous feminist talks in recent history. It's meant to introduce those to feminism who have previously recoiled in fear at being called a "feminist", and it does that just fine, in my opinion (reading a speech has a different effect than listening to one, and this is something that needs to be kept in mind).
In my humble opinion, reading (or listening) to We Should All Be Feminists is not time wasted and everyone should do so at some point in their lives; even if just to refresh that which they already know.
