Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey
4.0
Just what the world needed: another space cowboy named Jim...
The characters tend to be teacup shallow, except for the one who dies, obviously...
The story is beyond trivial: Big Evil Corp threatens humanity's survival blinded by their greed and total lack of scruples. Then space cowboy Jim saves the solar system.
What's magnificent is the background, the politics and power plays, the too short descriptions of the different kinds of humanity inhabiting Earth's neighborhood. That in and of itself makes this book if not great at least interesting.
