I enjoy this authors writing. It’s light, quirky, humorous and easy to digest. It’s so funny seeing how different people take in this book. Some think it was too romance heavy and others felt the steam and romance was unsatisfactory. I land somewhere in the middle. I never not like a good romance. But some of this story’s romance was a bit cringe for me. Some of the scenes felt very awkward. Some language had my eyes rolling.

The meat of the story was formulaic and very on troupe. I was invested, loved the two main characters, but a page turned and all of a sudden we switch from this budding romance to quick page turn angst, mystery and surprise surprise. It felt rushed and unnecessary.

This story started sweet, tried to get steamy and then ended muddied in mystery and oooh look a twist. lol. Meh. If she were to pen a sequel, I would read it. In hopes that it matures and doesn’t get stuck in the mistakes of the first book. This was a hard review to write. I think I liked it, but was befuddled by pacing and cringy spice.
